Mission Support is the lifeblood that keeps the Synod vital and engaging. The East Central Synod of Wisconsin relies on Mission Support from our congregations to fund our programming, be able to walk with congregations in transition, develop staff, and be connected with the ELCA Churchwide organization.

Where does mission support go in the East Central Synod of Wisconsin?

Mission Support fuels the ministries and daily operations of the East Central Synod of Wisconsin and strengthens the wider work of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Together, our shared gifts make ministry possible—within local congregations, across our synod, and throughout the global church.

ELCA Churchwide

In 2025, 47% of every dollar given to the East Central Synod of Wisconsin is shared with the ELCA Churchwide organization. These funds support the work of our churchwide ministry including development and stewardship of resources, support for the office of the Presiding Bishop, a range of ministries across the church, and global partnerships that connect us with the wider body of Christ around the world.

Seminaries

5% of mission support is directed to our ELCA seminaries. Supporting seminaries helps keep tuition costs manageable and reduces barriers for students discerning a call to ministry. It’s one of the ways we raise up new leaders to serve the church for generations to come.

Ministry Partnership

14% of mission support is directed to ministry partners of the synod including campus ministry, outdoor ministry, the Wisconsin Council of Churches, the Lutheran Office for Public Policy, and more.

Share the story.
 Include Mission Support in your next congregational meeting or annual report. Helping others see where their offerings go deepens understanding and strengthens connection to the broader mission we share.

How does mission support work?

Congregations send Mission Support contributions to the East Central Synod of Wisconsin. These funds sustain the synod’s mission to accompany and serve congregations, and they help make possible programs such as seminary scholarships, leadership development, and youth events.

In 2026, 48 cents of every dollar received by the synod will be shared with the ELCA Churchwide organization. Those funds then extend our shared mission globally..

Through Mission Support, we live out what it means to be church together—joining hands across congregations, synods, and the world to share the love of Christ.
