Support following spring storms

Many communities around our synod were greatly impacted by weather events of last week. So far we are hearing that none of our physical church properties have sustained any damage. We are hoping to assess the needs of our communities, congregations and leaders in order to communicate support needs and would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to fill out this form. Feel free to share the form with others.

We do know that there are communities that are in need of volunteers, in-kind donation support, and financial support. Please note, the synod is NOT coordinating any specific restoration or donation efforts at this time, but we are passing along the names and contacts of partners who are. An early list of partners engaging in the work include the following:

For service and volunteer opportunities in New London the New London Area Chamber of Commerce is helping to coordinate people and needs. You can check out their Facebook page or visit this google form.

Ways to Give Generously

For in-kind donations to support the people around Shiocton, the Black Creek Fire & Rescue is coordinating and has shared a list of needs and cleaning supplies. You can learn more on their Facebook page. Donations can be received at the station 5-7pm Monday 4/20 and Wednesday 4/22. (W5200 County Road B, Black Creek) Needs listed include:

If there are other organizations in your community supporting storm recovery efforts that you would like to add to this list please share links with Pastor Jenn (jenn.pockat@ecsw.org) and these will be added to our synod website.

Let us pray. Gracious God, your word of peace stills the storms that rage in our world. Bring hope to places that have experienced devastation. Bring comfort to those who grieve the loss of loved ones and property. Let your love be known through those who work to bring order in the chaos. Help us to shoulder the burden of suffering, and make us bearers of the hope that is your healing gift in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. (ELW Prayer 877)
