The Work of the Committees of the ECSW

Candidacy Committee                        
Chair:  Rev. Solveig Zamzow (920/826-7785)
Coordinates Synod programs to recruit candidates for church occupations; supports and implements programs of the ELCA Division for Ministry as they relate to qualification for ordination or certification; endorses and recommends individual candidates for ordination or certification approval; and provides personal and financial support to these candidates.

Constitution Committee                 
Chair: Roman Rommelfanger (920/684-3157)
Recommends changes in the Synod Constitution and Bylaws to the Synod Assembly; assists congregations on constitutional matters; assists conferences of constitutional matters; and reviews and approves constitutions of the congregations.

Endowment Committee                     
Chair: Bill Pohlmann (920/899-8742)
Encourages, receives, and invests charitable gifts to the Synod Endowment Fund; considers requests for and distributes endowment fund proceeds in accordance with the purposes of the Synod Endowment Fund; and monitors the administration and investment of fund held in trust for the benefit of the Synod.

Evangelism Committee                     
Chair: Rev. Nathan Gauerke (920/787-3920)
Develops initiatives to stimulate evangelism in the congregations; plans programs for development of new ministry opportunities within the Synod; works in concert with the ELCA to develop mission planning; secures mission development funding; and initiates programs of redevelopment where necessary.

Leadership Support Committee  
Chair: Rev. Stephen Dietzler (715/423-2840)
Supports and implements programs of the ELCA Division for Ministry as they relate to professional development; guides church professionals in making continuing education choices; develops and promotes continuing education resources for church professionals; administers synodical continuing education grants; provides support services to rostered staff and families; and equips congregational leaders for their tasks.

Resource Center Committee            
Director: Darlene Kalfahs (920/734-3797)
Establishes both short and long-term goals of the Resource Center; provides a proposed budget; and works alongside the Director to establish policies for the Resource Center.

Youth Committee                    
Chair: Amy Johnston (920/346-2315);  Barb Chesna - Registrar (920/235-2617)
Develops programs which foster the ministries by, for, and with the youth of the Synod; supports congregational youth ministry; maintains liaison with the ELCA Division for Congregational Ministries as it relates to youth; develops a youth organization, the officers and representatives of which will be the senior high youth to plan and implement synod youth programming with the Youth Committee.
